Babajide Sanwo-Olu Commends Tribunal Judgment

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed his appreciation to the Lagos Governorship Election Petition Court for dismissing the petitions filed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party and Azeez Olajide of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Babajide Sanwo-Olu emerged as the victorious candidate in the gubernatorial election held on March 18, despite opposition parties contesting the election results and subsequently seeking resolution through the tribunal.

However, the tribunal, presided over by a three-member panel in Ikeja, Lagos State, has reaffirmed Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s position as the Governor of Lagos State.

Babajide emphasized that the tribunal’s verdict aligns with the people’s mandate. He also added that his government’s victory will serve as motivation to deliver high-quality democracy to the residents of Lagos.

In his words, he said, “I commend the judiciary and the judges that delivered the well thought-out and detailed judgments. They took their time to explain to everyone the reasons that led them to the views and conclusion they gave. We thank the judges for their firm commitment to principle of fairness and justice”.

Furthermore, he extended a call to both his adversaries and supporters to unite and work together in steering Lagos State towards progress, fostering a robust economy and development.
He added, “We are ready to sit with you and have conversations around what ways you can channel your ideas in the development of the State. Lagos is big and its challenges are real, while its opportunities are boundless. There is always room for everybody to contribute”.
