The deputy governor of Edo state has been denied access from entering his office following amid controversies surrounding him with the state governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Mr. Philip Shaibu arrived at the government house located in the state capital Benin and realized that his office was padlocked with heavy keys and chains.

The deputy governor stated in a viral video that the state government have not issued a formal letter regarding his relocation to a new office.

He said, “Up till now, I don’t have any official communication that I should relocate. As I am speaking to you now, I am standing by the gate,”.

The controversies surrounding Godwin Obaseki and his deputy governor, Philip Shaibu have reflected political upheaval in Nigerian politics and power struggles within the state.

Recently, the deputy governor visited the Federal High Court in Abuja to prevent an impeachment plot by the state governor.

Furthermore, the governor said that Philip Shaibu is orchestrating a plan to remove him from office for replacement.

In Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and Philip Shaibu, both members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), have maintained a strong political presence. Obaseki’s leadership as Governor and Shaibu’s role as Deputy Governor have solidified their influence, with a focus on good governance, infrastructure development, and social reforms, fostering their popularity among Edo’s electorate.
