Nigerian Police Officers Face Demotion Due to Assault on Citizens

The peaceful demonstration took a tumultuous turn when the Nigerian police force dispersed the protesters at Lekki Phase 1 Gate using tear gas. This occurred as a tribute was being paid to the Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely recognized as Mohbad #Imole.

The incident unfolded amidst a gathering of Nigerians and Mohbad’s admirers who were not only advocating for justice but also paying their respects. They were demanding transparency, and accountability, and calling for the apprehension of Naira Marley and Sam Larry.

In a widely circulated video from the scene at the Lekki Toll gate, protesters could be seen scrambling to safeguard their well-being, while others were observed dealing with injuries and the effects of tear gas exposure.

Nigerians expressed their strong disapproval of the excessive actions taken by the Nigerian police force and urged the federal government to promptly address the situation in order to prevent any further escalation.

In the wake of distressing reports emerging from the Lekki Toll Gate, although there are no reports of fatalities, regrettably, a number of protesters have sustained injuries.
