October 17th: A Day of Prayer Against Terrorism, Hatred, and War - Pope Francis

Pope Francis has proclaimed October 17th as a day of fasting and prayer to stand against the destructive forces of hatred, war, and terrorism in the world. He has urged the faithful to unite with the Church in the Holy Land in dedicating Tuesday, October 17th, as a unique day to combat hatred and terrorism.

He stated, “Prayer is the meek and holy force to oppose the diabolical force of hatred, terrorism and war. I invite all believers to join with the Church in the Holy Land and to dedicate next Tuesday, 17 October, to prayer and fasting”.

Pope Francis has shown great commitment to ensuring that the ongoing war in Israel comes to an end, noting that Israel should respect the humanitarian law in Gaza.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has garnered national and global attention due to the significant loss of life and casualties on both sides. His Holiness has emphasized that the ongoing war in Israel must refrain from using civilians as pawns in the conflict.

He stated, “I renew my appeal for the freeing of the hostages and I strongly ask that children, the sick, the elderly, women, and all civilians not be made victims of the conflict”.

Amidst the ongoing conflict in Israel, there are differing opinions. Some said that the Palestinians are striving to eliminate the presence of Zionists from the planet, while others argue that Israel is occupying the ancestral land of the Palestinians.
