Peter Obi held Bola Ahmed Tinubu accountable for the disgrace Nigerians faced on the global stage due to incidents of identity theft. He remarked, “Uninformed outsiders now see Nigerians as fraudsters, certificate forgers and identity thieves because of Bola Tinubu”.

However, he further stated that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu certificate issue should not be trivialized because it comes after the election, he added, “It doesn’t matter when this comes up. The issue is too fundamental to be trivialised at any time.

The presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress who is now the president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been subjected to scrutiny concerning the certificate he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a forged certificate.

The discovery of Bola Ahmed’s academic records issue begins with Nigerian senior advocate of Nigeria and human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi down to Nigerian investigative journalist, David Hundeyin who vowed to expose Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s real identity.

Following the presidential election, INEC declared Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President of Nigeria. This declaration was met with dissatisfaction within the opposition parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and The Labour Party (LP).

Atiku Abubakar reached out to Chicago State University and appealed to the university to disclose the academic records of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, along with all relevant documents.

The University denied Atiku his request noting that it is only the court has the authority to compel them to release the certificate of Bola due to student privacy protection.

Atiku filed a petition with the United States District Court in the Northern District of Illinois. In response, Judge Gilbert granted his request, issuing an order for Chicago State University to provide Atiku Abubakar with all academic records related to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, including “all relevant and non-privileged documents.”

Judge Gilbert’s verdict did not sit well with Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and he appealed the decision, although Justice Maldonado denied his appeal. Upon receiving the academic records, Atiku Abubakar called on the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Mr Peter Obi, as well as the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and all Nigerians to collaborate in the effort to rid Nigeria of corruption and prevent identity theft.
