The Young Progressive Party National Publicity Secretary Egbola Wale Martins announced that the YPP will legally challenge Senator Ifeanyi Uba’s decision to switch his allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that Senator Ifeanyi Uba, representing the Anambra South senatorial district, said that the APC is a dynamic party where all decision-making authority is concentrated, noting that his people have benefited from Bola policies.
The YPP expressed its discontent with Ifeanyi Uba’s switch to the APC. According to Martins, they believe that Uba’s departure was not prompted by irreconcilable differences, and he should not have abandoned the party after leveraging it to secure positions in the 2023 general elections.
He said, “The news making the rounds on the defection of Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is unfortunate, especially at a time when we should be consolidating on our gains in the just concluded general election.
“We ought to be building a formidable opposition to challenge the reckless ruling party responsible for the several woes currently being faced by Nigerians. “Ubah may have defected to the APC for a number of reasons but irreconcilable differences within the party is definitely not one of it. “And there is no need crying wolf where there is none,”
Following his defection to the APC, Ifeanyi Uba had an interview on Channels TV with Seun. During the interview, he explained that he had no personal issues with his former party and highlighted that he had engaged in consultations before joining the APC. The anchor, however, pressed on, suggesting that there could be legal implications for his decision.

Uba further stated that his choice to align with the APC was driven by his desire for his people to reap the benefits of the Tinubu administration. He emphasized that his people in Lagos had greatly benefited from the policies of the Nigerian president.
